With the advancement in the tech sphere, gaming has become a world-renown activity that connects people from different corners of the world. The advent of online games enabled people to engage freely in matches and make friends from overseas.

Online gaming dates back to the 1970s, when people used computers to play games. An early example was the Multi-Use Dungeon (MUD) which allowed players to interact with each other. This interaction was possible since the gamers typed commands that resembled natural language in their devices. The first online MUDs were created in 1978, confined in an internal network.

Now that we have a brief idea of the history of online gaming, let us focus on our time. Gaming in the present century: A century of vast technological advancement with various games available on the web.

While gaming today is full of world-class technology aimed at making the activity as realistic as possible such as Virtual Reality (VR), it is not without its downsides. For instance, online games can be frustrating when gamers encounter obstacles such as latency and geographical restrictions.

While the future of gaming might seem a bit complicated due to these obstacles, you will be pleased to know that there are various tools you can use to optimize your experience, among them proxies. With this in mind, this post will dive into some of the reasons why gamers are turning to proxies in 2022.

Why Proxies Are Necessary For Gaming in 2022

First, what is a gaming proxy? It is a tool that acts as an intermediary or a gateway that connects the gamer with the gaming websites and enables them to use a different IP address while gaming. Below are the reasons 2022 gamers use proxies:

Bypassing Geographical Restrictions

Online games, just like any other online content, are prone to geographical restrictions. This often is not an issue to passionate gamers since proxies can easily help them bypass such blocks.

How so? Well, proxies allow you to set an IP address of a different region, allowing you to access a game from a dummy location. Still, you are actually in a restricted region. For instance, passionate Indian PUBG gamers can set an IP address of UK origin and access PUBG while in India, regardless of the game being banned in their country.

Prevent Lagging

While gaming, especially multiplayer games, a faster and smooth connection is required for an optimum experience. While proxies can’t necessarily increase your internet speed, they can offer a more direct connection to the game server, reducing lag.

Lag can be one of the most annoying experiences for any gamer as it can cause unnecessary losses in important matches. Such issues are significantly reduced with a proxy, improving the overall gameplay.

Bypassing IP Bans

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where the game slapped you with an IP ban for whatever reason? In such scenarios, creating a different account will not work as you will still be using the same IP. The best idea here would be to swap your IP using a proxy.

You need to keep in mind that gaming companies today use state of the art technology. If you use mediocre proxies, you will get detected and still be barred from accessing your favorite games. The best idea is to stick to premium proxies such as IPRoyal. Let’s say you have been barred from accessing Starcraft. The best way forward is to get some reliable proxies like those at Iproyal.com and get back into the game.

Voting on Game Sites

Competition is a key aspect of gaming today. With the popularity of the niche, developers are trying to outdo each other in developing the most interesting games for users. This has led to the introduction of a vast number of gaming platforms.

Passionate gamers are always on the lookout for new and high-rated games. Usually, game owners advertise their games on different websites and wait for users to rate their games. This usually takes a while before your game is ranked. However, with a DVT gaming proxy, rating your game is easier than you expect since you can vote for your game using different IPs and boost its ranking.

The Upshot

Gaming proxies offer a wide range of benefits for users. One might argue that these tools are a must-have for dedicated gamers. This is because at least once in your lifetime of gaming, you might experience lagging, IP bans, or even travel to a region where your game is unavailable. In such instances, a proxy will come in handy as it can help fix all these issues. Now that you understand the power of gaming proxies, nothing can stop you from becoming the master of your game. Happy gaming!

]]>
Thanks to the pandemic, millions of people are stuck at home, passing the time on their phones or computers. The situation has also caused an uptick in cases of cyber bullying and harassment, especially against the scientific community, Asians and Asian Americans.

No matter who you are, it’s never fun to receive threats online. Learn how to protect yourself against online harassment over multiple platforms by following the link. You’ll find out how to quickly identify cases of cyberstalking and harassment, and how to approach each situation so you feel at ease.

In addition, here are some ways to upgrade your cybersecurity so you’re never caught off guard.

1 Doxx Yourself

Not in the literal sense, of course. However, doxxing yourself can showcase how easy it is for a cyberstalker to find out private details about your life. Look up your name, address, phone number, account names, and so on. Use quote marks ( “ ) around your search terms for more fine-tuned results. Don’t limit yourself to Google either – Bing and DuckDuckGo often yield highly different results.

Clean up your social media accounts of any private info you don’t want harassers to find out. Comb through your photo albums for images that might give away where you live. Turn on all those fancy privacy settings on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and others.

Think of all this as performing a security audit for a bank and identifying any weak points. Only instead of money, the valuable thing you’re trying to protect is your private data.

2 Keep Your Location a Secret

The last thing you want is some troll or dangerous stalker finding out where you live. So aside from cleaning up the web of any personal details through self-doxxing, you’ll want to protect yourself against IP grabbers as well. What are those, you ask?

Well, cyberstalkers may send you links or use scripts to grab your IP address, and thus obtain your approximate physical location. Your country, city, and even your ZIP code are all there. One way to avoid that is to be mindful of any suspicious URLs, even if they’re sent by friends. You never know if a hacker got to them first and is using their account to impersonate them.

An even better solution is to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to mask your location. These apps hide your real IP address and replace it with a different one, based on the location you’ve connected to. As a side bonus, you’ll be able to bypass Internet censorship and access geo-restricted content. Say, international Netflix libraries, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, and so on.

The best part is that VPNs encrypt (i.e. scramble) your online data so it can’t be read by eavesdroppers. Hackers, Internet providers looking to sell your data, cyberstalkers, government surveillance, and anyone else that’s trying to peek into your private life. Highly useful on public Wi-Fi at hotels, airports, cafés, and other places teeming with hackers.

3 Strengthen Your Passwords and Email Security

Be honest: how many of your important accounts use similar (or even the same) passwords? Over 53% of people have reported doing the same, to the delight of hackers everywhere. It’s understandably frustrating having to keep track of so many strong passwords. But you know what’s even worse? Scrambling to change all your passwords after your accounts have been compromised.

Use a password manager so you’re not forced to carry around a pocket notebook of all your login details. And just in case of data breaches (or other hacking activity out of your control), try using throwaway emails for non-important accounts:

  • E-shops you rarely use
  • Niche forums
  • Social media accounts

Best example? MyFitnessPal – in 2018, the service was part of a data breach that affected over 150 million users. Think about it; one failed New Year’s Resolution and your data ends up for sale on the Dark Web. Not the best trade-off.

4 Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Even if you fall victim to a phishing scam and the hacker obtains your login details, they can’t do much if you use 2FA. Ideally, you’d use something more advanced than SMS-based 2FA, as it’s vulnerable to various attacks.

Google, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy are great alternatives, and aren’t that difficult to set up. Certainly less work than sitting around all day changing passwords, calling your bank, PayPal, the police, and whoever else wasn’t invited to the hacking party.

Security is an ever-growing problem for many people, in particular when it comes to web privacy. Your units comprise an outstanding deal of private data, be it your financial institution important points and passwords or any different touchy statistics that you wouldn’t prefer to be shared with a 1/3 party. All this data is synced with your email and different social media profiles. Surfing the internet or carrying out transactions on an unsecured Wi-Fi community can expose your personal facts and looking habits to all manner of people. If you’re in search of on-line privateness and anonymity then VPN is the proper device for you.

What does VPN stand for?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and is a remarkably beneficial device for your online life. VPNs had been firstly used solely by using groups and organizations, mainly to talk confidentially over public networks. However international utilization has surged over the previous few years as greater and greater of us lift out everyday things to do online.

What is a VPN connection, and why do we need it?

A VPN creates an encrypted course between you and a far-flung server. All your web visitors are routed thru this encrypted tunnel, and no one can examine the statistics transmitted via it.

This digital course allows customers to ship and get hold of information as if their computing units have been without delay related to the non-public network. This helps to impenetrable your statistics from prying eyes which include cybercriminals and authorities surveillance.

Whilst on the VPN your machine will have the related server’s IP address, overlaying up your genuine tackle and location. You can join a server in a one-of-a-kind the USA and ‘spoof’ your location.

VPN and Security

Security When Using Public Wi-Fi Hotspots

Most of us are followers of free Wi-Fi right? The networks you join in hotels, libraries, airports, and cafes.

We commonly do not assume twice earlier than becoming a member of these servers. But have you ever thinking about who is controlling the on-line traffic? Are you positive that the issuer is actual or should they have different intentions for your data? These are necessary questions that we don’t continually have the solutions to, on the other hand, a VPN affords as a brilliant answer to any issues or concerns.

If you join a public Wi-Fi community with the usage of a VPN, you can be relaxation certain that no one in that community will be in a position to intercept your data.

Privacy from website info gathering

Internet commercials are frequently focused at once at the person (via their IP address) and are customized thru facts gathered from your net search history. In some instances this can be convenient, in others it is intrusive and unsettling.

A properly countermeasure for this trouble is to use a VPN, which maintains your actual IP hidden and efficaciously side-steps this type of marketing tactic.

Prevent ISP tracking

ISPs — net carrier companies — are an increasing number of fascinated in the information of their customers. Disreputable ISPs have been recognized to promote consumer records such as browsing history, location, or app utilization to third-parties. You can keep away from this problem and enlarge your privateness by means of the usage of a VPN, which acts as a real looking defend in these kinds of situations.

Apart from elevated privateness and security, connecting to a VPN presents many benefits for your on-line commercial enterprise and enjoyment needs.

Bypass geographical website restrictions

The certain content material on streaming structures and web sites is no longer accessible in some geographical locations, regularly due to licensing issues. However, you can without difficulty pass these restrictions on the use of a VPN. Always make certain that you are following the legal guidelines of us. you are in earlier than doing so.

Lower prices

Prices on flight tickets and different merchandise may additionally vary from the USA to country. With a VPN server, you can get the right of entry to your goal country’s website online as if you have been current locally, which can retailer you a lot of money. Moreover, transactions carried out by the use of a VPN have a tendency to be extra secure.

Downloading Files with increased speed

Internet carrier vendors can limit and restrict the quantity of content material they enable you to download or watch in order to amplify income margins. Most of us use VPN connections to download documents by means of torrents or different platforms. If your ISP is interfering with the torrent speed, you can use a VPN to ignore this issue.

A VPN isn’t simply for protection; there are many advantages that are presented through this technology. If you are searching at downloading a VPN, have in mind to go with a professional issuer who will appreciate your privacy, appoint the most contemporary safety protocols and will now not restrict and hinder your net speed.

However, many organizations still fail to take full advantage of the new generation of this technology: some have only a limited understanding of its capabilities; and others are cautious about novelty. An innovative SD-WAN nevertheless has essential functionalities capable of accompanying, consolidating, and supporting companies in their digital transformation daily.

Multiplexed VPNs: In large organizations, virtual private networks (VPNs) are generally complex and multiple. This sometimes follows mergers or acquisitions of companies, which continue to operate as separate entities. In other cases, some departments, which have sensitive activities, require separation. For example, for security and privacy reasons, it is sometimes safer, or even mandatory, to isolate network traffic from certain services. SD-WAN thus allows organizations to segment their applications as well as Virtual Routing and Transfer (VRF), without purchasing new devices. VPN links can therefore be multiplexed into a single overlay, which allows large companies to segment and isolate their traffic, by implementing the appropriate rules for each.

Microsegmentation: Improves network security by restricting the potential lateral movements of hackers in the event of a breach. Microsegmentation has therefore been widely deployed by enterprises in recent years as it gives them sophisticated control over east-west traffic and helps protect the use of applications in the cloud or data centers. SD-WAN platforms improve this process by automating central rules, for example, to isolate the sections affected by vulnerability from the rest of the network.

Local Breakouts: Appliances allow users in remote offices to connect directly and securely to cloud applications; while eliminating the inefficiency induced by traffic destined for the edge of the network and necessarily redirected to data centers traditionally. Given the growing importance of on-demand software or infrastructure (SaaS and IaaS), efficient and reliable access to the cloud is required for many businesses. By simplifying the way traffic is directed to certain areas of the network, SD-WAN enables faster and easier local escape.

Flexible Bandwidth Distribution: Even today, many organizations continue to manually configure the bandwidth allocation for each application. This practice is time-consuming and has no added value for IT teams; it benefits from energy and resources that could be more useful elsewhere. SD-WAN offers flexible bandwidth allocation – by classifying applications into groups and then applying an appropriate level of service for each – which avoids individual manual configuration. This speeds up the process, prevents human error, and consequently minimizes the risk of poor performance, during an audio conference call for example.

Encryption Key Rotation: Data protection has never been more of a concern than it is today, especially with GDPR and the upsurge in cyber attacks. It is now up to companies to take strong measures to secure information. Encryption keys must therefore change regularly – every 90 days – to reduce any compromise. However, standard virtual private network (VPN) encryption key rotations can be a complex and disruptive process that sometimes requires downtime. On the contrary, SD-WAN offers automatic and programmable rotation, without manual intervention or system shutdown.

Zero-Touch Provisioning: Too often, installing and commissioning network equipment is time-consuming; since it requires manual configuration, installation, and a testing phase, for each remote office accessing the network. For companies with tens, hundreds, or even thousands of sites, this implementation can prove particularly costly in terms of resources. However, SD-WAN offers hands-off provisioning, eliminating the need to manually configure every device in every office. On the condition of being connected to the internet, and SD-WAN terminal will be able to obtain the appropriate template for the network as well as the parameters to configure it.

Improved Data Analysis: Information analysis is critical for many reasons, including ensuring a reliable network and in determining network capacity. SD-WAN offers improved data analysis, and therefore more granular and precise visibility into overall network performance. This information and the visibility it provides enables organizations to distribute network resources more efficiently.

Service Chaining: It allows organizations to redirect their data traffic to one or more services; including intrusion detection, prevention devices, or even security tools hosted in the cloud. Thus, enterprises can declutter networks in their remote offices. Finally, they can automate the way specific types of traffic are handled and assemble connected network services into a single chain. While limiting human needs and the resources used, the chaining service simplifies maintenance and problem-solving.

The benefits of SD-WAN are numerous and significant for sustaining a company’s business over the long term. Thanks to its flexibility and reliability, it supports and facilitates the digitization of an organization so that it can sustain its activities and gain in productivity.

VPN, three small letters used to define a Virtual Private Network, namely a technology allowing to protect its Internet connection, by masking an IP address and by encrypting the data. For security reasons, VPNs are used more and more, both by individuals and professionals. Through this article, find out what are the advantages of using a VPN.

A Multiple And Completely Secure Connection

By using a VPN, it is possible to browse encrypted, on several devices at the same time. NordVPN for example allows you to connect up to 6 devices! Thanks to the encryption offered by VPNs, it is possible to browse the web securely without being monitored. Also, VPNs do not record any activity, so private data like IP addresses, passwords. Are private. It is also possible to obtain a dedicated IP address, used by the same person.

Connect To A Remote Network

As teleworking normalizes, using a VPN when working remotely is a real advantage. In this way, all employees can access a remote network, giving access to data that is normally only available when one is present on-site, securely.

Access Blocked Content

This is one of the telling examples of the moment. While several countries ban the TikTok application, there is a boom in the VPN market. Indeed, to overcome the potential blockage, in Japan, Australia, or the United States, several players have experienced an increase in traffic.

The VPN has the advantage of masking the IP address and being able to modify the latter. Thus, in a country where TikTok is prohibited, all you have to do is use a VPN to access the application, without any problem, while being located elsewhere, in a country where the application is authorized.

Another example in terms of content, using a VPN to access the full catalogs of Netflix and other streaming services.

P2P Download

To exchange files quickly, with a large number of people, Peer-to-Peer is favored. Indeed, each person who will download a file will become a “sharer” making the process more efficient.

The problem with P2P is that different devices downloading a file will be able to see each other’s IP addresses, which is an issue for data privacy. By going through a VPN, this problem is limited, as the real IP address is changed and the online activity is fully encrypted.

There are other advantages to using a VPN. For example, it can speed up the connection by offering high speeds and thus not be subject to any restrictions from Internet service providers. The VPN can also save money, including showing different prices depending on the country detected.

A virtual private network creates a secure and encrypted connection on less secure networks, mostly on the Internet. VPNs are often used to hide a user’s IP address, so they can avoid censorship, surveillance, or gain access to multimedia content that is not available in his home.

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a computer network for connecting computers into a single virtual network. A network is called a virtual network because it provides an imaginary direct connection to any other computer or Web site.

Computers can be in physically independent networks in different places, and they can communicate with each other via a virtual private network as if they were on the same network segment.

Via VPN, it is possible to ensure, for example, the connection of company computers anywhere on the Internet to the company intranet (internal company network).

How Does It Work

Simply put, a VPN works by replacing a user’s IP address with another, usually a foreign, address when connected to the Internet. In practice, the user can sit at home, but according to the IP address, he will be located in, say, San Francisco and will be able to watch Netflix with a selection of films for the USA region.

Of course, VPNs can now also be used by ordinary users and households, where it is used to protect the identity of private communications and the ability to access content or sites that are not available. Recently, the popularity of VPNs as protection against hackers when using public Wi-Fi networks has been growing.

Such a service is offered by many companies, but fees must be taken into account. Then better security, higher transmission speed, and especially a larger data package available to the customer are guaranteed.

VPNs seem like the most secure things in the world. In a world that is going through increasing levels of online risks, using a VPN ensures your privacy and security online remains safe and as high as possible.

However, what if you wake up one day, only to find that your VPN service of choice is going through an unfortunate incident? Such as hacking?

What would you do?

A VPN service, as its default, is meant to give you excellent levels of privacy and security, but they are made by humans, for humans – and that makes them easy to crack at certain unfortunate times. Therefore, if you want to be more secure, there are ways you can increase your protection factor – even while using the most secure VPN.

Ways to up your security

VPN1

Change the protocols you use

The basic of VPNs is always the protocol, which is how the network encrypts incoming and outgoing traffic. That said, there is not just one kind of VPN – there are actually several protocols that are in common use, and the good news is that numerous providers will provide you with a choice that works for you.

In some cases, you will find that the choice is available in the app, while in others it will be an option you can use to configure a third-party VPN tool.

You will notice that the most common protocols are the OpenVPN (an open-source VPN protocol), L2TP/IPsec (protocol for layer 2 tunneling, very secure) and PPTP (an older protocol that is still quite common, though not as safe).

If you happen to be using a flashed VPN router or a mobile device, using L2TP or PPTP is a good choice, since they are easier to configure.  You will also require a username, server name, and password.

However, regardless of the device you use, the OpenVPN option is the best. The reason that makes PPTP unsafe at times is due to its 128-bit encryption. Moreover, the process of authentication and initial connection can sometimes be intercepted by other people, and the information compromised. On the good side though, it is among the fastest protocols as it has the lowest encryption process.

L2TP is usually among the most secure, though the double encryption process makes it quite slow. On the other hand, OpenVPN is a great balance between the two: it has high levels of security, and recovers very quickly from lost connections.

Using the kill switch

VPN2

There comes a major problem with using VPNs – sometimes the connection will fail. When this happens, the device immediately goes back to the regular internet address you use, which makes you vulnerable (this is referred to as an IP leak). The greater danger here though – you will likely have no idea it even happened.
This is where the kill switch is your best friend. It will make sure that when you suddenly lose the VPN from your connection, it will immediately shut it down, or all the apps that use it.
Certain VPN connection apps will have a kill switch integrated in their design, and it is better for you to enable it.
If the app does not have the feature, then the alternative is a software kill switch, which you can add to all VPNs. They include apps such as VPNetMon, which you configure on the Windows platform to close the selected apps when the VPN dies.

Enable network locks

This is an easy way to ensure secure connections, and works in the same way as a kill switch. When the Wi-Fi and VPN get interruptions, the network lock prevents the device from accessing the internet, until the VPN reconfigures itself. However, you should note that not all VPN service providers have the feature.

Stopping DNS leaking

VPN4

What is DNS, you may ask?

Well, a DNS, which also means a Domain Net Server, is the service the computer will use to convert a URL into an IP address.

When you connect your network to a VPN, you should be instantly using the VPN service’s secure DNS server. However, sometimes this is not the case, as the device might be using its usual DNS connection when it bypasses the VPN. The result is known as a DNS leak, and any outside forces that are interested in your data can see your activities on the internet.

Certain VPN apps and clients have in-built DNS protection, but you can always check if you are unsure. When conducting the test, the resulting location it should tell you is that you are in the ‘apparent’ VPN location (where the server you chose is), instead of your actual location.

Blocking any leaks of IPv6

Regarding most activities on the internet, we usually rely on version 4 of the internet protocol system =- that means, the one that uses the 4-number IP address. What you may not know is that a version 6 exists, and this will give you many more addresses than the IPv4. A typical computer will support both, though internet providers are still transitioning to the v6.
The thing about the version 6 though – it operates outside of VPN limits; which means that any attacker can use it to figure out who you are. Even though it does not happen frequently, it still does, so the only way to prevent it is disabling the v6. Some VPNs have this ability built-in, but you can also accomplish it manually.

Preventing WebRTC leaks

VPN5

It is also essential to prevent your network from exposing your IP address unwittingly. The Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) is the protocol that enables two devices to broadcast each other’s IP addresses and communicate to each other.
Unfortunately, this will expose your location at times – even when you use a VPN.
The best way to prevent this is using IP testers to note your address both before and after connecting to a VPN – if it is blocking the WebRTC, the IP address should change after connecting to the VPN. You can also use ad blockers as well.

Final thoughts

VPNs will work as a useful layer of added security on top of an antivirus program, and they are always the next step when you want to be conscious about how you use the internet. However, it is important to continue taking measures to keep yourself safe when using them, since they can also experience issues at times.
