The use of the Internet has increased rapidly worldwide after the spread of COVID-19, which shows the importance that this service has gained for the development of work and education at home. During confinement.

Artificial intelligence has invaded our daily lives, and it is impossible to ignore its place in all sectors of society, including education. It is emerging in education with applications for both learners and teachers to improve the quality, efficiency and equity of education. In the previous article, we defined AI and analyzed the place of AI in the service of student learning and its impact on teaching. We have tried to see the extent to which the teacher sees his place and his role modified. Although we are using AI technologies in our elearning platforms or in online education there are also some risks in it.

Factors such as the greater dependence on communications and information technologies, the use of multiple digital solutions in the educational field and the longer time spent online, among others, increase the exposure of boys, girls, adolescents, young students and teachers, to online threats and risks.

AI And Cybersecurity

Like any computer program, AI systems can be attacked or defended but can also be used to defend or attack, as described in ExpressVPN research on AI bias.

AI ATTACKED BY CYBERATTACKS: 3 TYPES OF ATTACKS

Poisoning: consists of artificially sending a lot of data that will shift the centre of gravity of the AI. The probabilities are, therefore, biased by these attacks.

Evasion: this attack is based on optical illusion. By making small changes in the input data, the AI fails to recognize something and completely changes its classification.

Inference: the objective is to seek information about something to cross-check it and find information that normally could not have been accessed.

Main Issues That We Face Through AI

For each ethical issue raised by AI, it is possible to implement solutions to limit their consequences.

  • The issue of bias
  • Diversify the provenance of data and use reverse engineering to prove that an algorithm is biased
  • Check that it complies with legislation and ethical rules
  • The issue of transparency
  • Set up thresholds for validations. The human must remain the decision-maker, and the AI must only propose solutions.
  • The problem of personal data
  • Create tools that help prevent AI from collecting and encoding personal data.
  • The problem of responsibility
  • Create a new legal status for robots and AIs
  • Define and apply ethical charters
  • The environmental and security issue
  • Improving AI abilities by 1% consumes a lot of energy and produces a lot of waste.

Most Common Threats In Online Education

  • Malicious codes or malware (viruses, worms, Trojans, etc.).
  • Threats related to social engineering.
  • Phishing: method of attack through email.
  • Smishing: attack method through SMS messaging.
  • Vishing: phone call scam.
  • Contact predators online.
  • Online grooming: online sexual harassment or abuse involving an adult’s interaction with children or adolescents.
  • Cyberbullying: includes sending, posting or sharing harmful content about another person through any digital device or media.
  • Sexting: sending content (photographs and videos) containing images that show or describe sexual activities.
  • Access to potentially harmful or illegal content.
  • Exposure to false information, content that threatens the integrity of children and young people, or that incites violence, suicide or other risky behaviours.

What NOT To Do

  • DO NOT share personal information.
  • DO NOT post daily activities on networks.
  • Please DO NOT send photos of our privacy to unknown people or share them on social networks.
  • DO NOT open emails or attachments from unknown senders.
  • DO NOT share passwords with third parties by any means.
  • DO NOT install malicious code on other people’s computers or devices, as recommended by WebUpdatesDaily.
  • DO NOT intimidate, harass, threaten other people, or make teasing or comments with negative connotations.
  • DO NOT arrange meetings with strangers or agree to do so if a stranger requests it.

What To Do

  • Respect the privacy of others.
  • When interacting with others online, use an alias or alternate name as a username.
  • Inform parents, guardians, teachers or trusted adults about harmful content, threats or negative situations.
  • Apply privacy settings to social media accounts.
  • Connect only with known people.
  • Report on websites or social networks any abusive, offensive and threatening situation, as well as inappropriate behaviour.

It is undeniable that continuous training occupies an important place in business. More and more companies realize that it’s necessary to coach their employees. Today knowledge becomes obsolete if it’s not renewed. The company environment, especially in terms of technology, is moving in no time, and it’s essential to be up so far to stay competent.

Most companies prefer to train their workers through online courses. The advantages of studying online are multiple, like saving time and money. The eLearning can overcome the barrier of distance and facilitates the reconciliation of the worker. Therefore, if you’re still considering it, below we explain the importance and benefits of eLearning for companies:

What Is eLearning

Before explaining its advantages, we must first define what exactly we mean by eLearning. An eLearning platform may be a campus or virtual learning space where training material is obtainable. Users can access online education because of various digital tools, like Moodle, that facilitate it. In eLearning, the scholar is the center of the method. The teacher remains within the background, and his figure becomes that of a mentor and guide. This teaching model of online schools has been highly valued by its students, which has increased digital training centers. Therefore, if you’re trying to find an educational program that meets your expectations, the Stop Academy online courses are a superb choice to continue learning and acquire new digital knowledge.

What Are The Advantages Of eLearning For Companies

E-learning features a long list of benefits in terms of its use in organizations. Although it depends on the sort of company and therefore, the training that you want to supply to employees, we will find these common benefits altogether sectors:

Reduction Of eLearning For Companies

Online training is usually cheaper than face-to-face training. This has nothing to do with quality, except for obvious reasons. For instance, a digital school saves on classroom and equipment rental costs, printing and distribution costs, administrative costs, transportation, accommodation, and subsistence costs for both trainers and students.

Teaching online classes also allows access to many more students’ sessions than the face-to-face one, which features a limited number of places. This sort of coaching is extremely expensive and has many direct and indirect costs, so the costs of the programs are much higher. Some studies ensure that organizations that replace face-to-face training with eLearning find yourself saving up to 70%.

Flexibility

One of the foremost notable advantages of eLearning is flexibility. This modality is related to having no limits because employees are offered the likelihood of taking training from anywhere and anytime. This automatically eliminates all kinds of fixed schedules and supposes a far better reconciliation of labor and family life for workers since they set their routine at their convenience.

Furthermore, it’s virtually impossible and highly inefficient to bring a whole team of employees together in one place. eLearning offers them a far better quality of life, which can be reflected in their results.

Improve Productivity

In terms of productivity, people are continually trying to find new opportunities to continue developing. For this reason, online training allows employees to stay up so far with new business trends and, above all, within the technological field.

The worker is more productive since he will have more knowledge of the world and can remember the news and, therefore, the day-to-day of this. Additionally, the very fact that the training is electronic means more free time since you gain flexibility, and it’s not necessary to travel. With this system, they will participate in online courses anytime, anywhere, even during work breaks. This translates into more freedom since learning won’t hit the event of other more important tasks.

Helps Retain Talent

There are many reasons why workers prefer to leave their jobs. Without a doubt, they consider that there aren’t enough training and development opportunities within the company is one among them. eLearning helps retain talent because it increases employee satisfaction. They feel that the corporate values them which it’s committed to their professional development, which suggests a rise within the feeling of belonging and loyalty to the workers.

Talent retention isn’t only reflected in lower corporate costs, as these are forced to initiate new selection processes. It also translates into increased employee participation within the organization and their motivation, competitiveness, commitment, and performance.
Companies that implement eLearning training achieve a big increase in the level of satisfaction of their employees.

Personalization Of The Training Experience

eLearning adapts to the requirements of every student by creating personal learning environments. Not all folks learn in the same way and, although the fabric that a faculty provides you is that the same as that of all those that participate during a course, online training allows each student to regulate their time and pace.

On the other hand, the incorporation of interactive and multimedia content increases the interest of the participants. This is often one of the keys to the retention of data among employees.

The teacher – student-teacher relationship. A story of novice teachers and prudish students.

  • Elearning, online training, distance learning, online teaching. What are the differences?
  • Pre-work and post-work What is it and what is it for?
  • Do internships online and encourage interaction
  • Some tips for the student and some others for the teacher

What do you ask me the most in the middle of this “tsunami” that affects the formation of such frontal matter?

Is it the same to give face-to-face training as online? No.

Are the same results obtained? That depends on the teacher and the student. As in-classroom training.

When I was a novice and therefore had no tools, I made many mistakes:

  • Not checking comprehension in the proper way (not only asking if they have understood but also for example using quick tests to make them aware).
  • Once you have learned “how to check attention”, begin to miscalculate the amount of information without thinking that if you get participation and tests of understanding, everything is slower.
  • Do not use the camera even when projecting a presentation. It is important that there is a person, even in a small square.
  • And a thousand more!

Today, without a doubt, I would say that in-person training better results are obtained; What’s more, after a good workout, I think you can get the same or even better results. Technique, technological and personal tools, and attitude.

What is e-learning, online training, digital distance learning, and other terms?

We all know that elearning or “electronic learning” is the teaching of distance education using digital means, but there are different levels of closeness and interaction with the student:

Teachings to distance

The teacher “goes up” and indicates materials that the student studies. The student performs different exercises, uses tools, and can ask on the platform, by email or even in person. In a certain period of time the teacher responds.

The interaction is very limited.

Interactive training

The same case as the previous one, but the hours of provision or “online tutoring” of each teacher are determined. In this period the teacher can add documentation or exercises, and during that time the students can ask by email, chat, or another system.

There are no live explanations for the group.

Interaction is limited.

Online Training, also called Virtual Education

All the previous tools are used, but also online sessions are held with the students, with the teacher’s image or with the projection of a presentation, examples, cases, exercises, etc. It is what we all know as “a class”.

Students intervene with live chat, voice, or video and resolve their doubts by sharing them with the whole group. The teacher solves the problems live.

The interaction is very high.

In my case, I am fortunate to teach Online Training: my students are responsible for their training, but the requirement for self-training thanks to online sessions is much more realistic with different personalities/situations and group learning, much more effective and rewarding.

Student: what to do before the online class

  • The most efficient online teaching is one in which pre-class work is done, both by the teacher and the student.
  • The student who takes the most of the “opportunity” of a live session is a student who arrives knowing the thematic pillars of the session. For this it is essential that you do the prework, or before the class, that they have provided.
  • It is not about studying from a “rote” point of view, but rather a work of contextualization and organization of the concepts necessary to check your understanding in the live session.
  • The self-assessment that the student will carry out in class on their understanding of the subject is, in my opinion, the most important aspect of an online session. It is the tool that will allow you to maximize your use.

Teacher: what to do before the online class

  • In this previous stage, the teacher is responsible for establishing a relationship with the student, because, in my opinion, an online session always works best when there is a prior link, mutual knowledge between the student and the teacher. This link is not so much personal as in relation to expectations, methodologies, and more importantly, the one that creates curiosity.
  • There are countless tools: recommended readings, online tests, and quizzes, real examples and cases, links, thematic references / recommended sources, and why not, previous exercises that allow students to assess their knowledge of the discipline.
  • In addition, it is convenient to establish the pillars and objectives that we hope to achieve from the session, as well as explain in advance the methodology to be used. A good schedule, for example, the week before class, in which day by day we could incorporate activities and comments; It may be a correct option.

Students: how to take advantage of an online class

Let’s suppose that a student has prepared his class, which shows an attitude that will undoubtedly favor him. How can you make the most of the online class?

Depending on the duration, it is more or less difficult to maintain attention (and depending on the teacher as well), my advice is only 1: participate, participate, and participate. And do not stop participating, ask, interrupt, demand explanations … it’s your time, use it!

Teacher: how to take advantage of an online class

  • Suppose that the students have prepared the class, which shows an attitude that will undoubtedly favor the session. How can you make the most of the online class?
  • Yes, the duration is an important factor, but I always consider:
  • That the “theory” of things is already in Google and the professor has already provided reliable sources. The value is not in the explanation of the attainable but in the transmitted experience.
  • It is not a class where the teacher speaks and the students listen passively. Assuming this type of teaching still exists.
  • Despite being an online session, there should be practices.
  • Furthermore, if the subject allows it, it should be a purely practical session, which focuses on those concepts that, from the teacher’s experience, are more complicated for students. “Learning by doing” continues to be a norm in the digital environment as well.
  • Does the relationship with the students end when we stop “recording”? No.
  • If the relationship with our students never ends with the class, in an online class the postwork or the work and the subsequent relationship are even more relevant.
  • I want my students to fall in love with my subject, I want them to want to apply the knowledge immediately and I feel downright bad when I am not inundated with questions from a group. Online teaching allows us to share that illusion with no other border than language: it is a completely enriching window for everyone.
